Mission

Our goal

At Endress+Hauser BioSense our aim is to support you in the rapid and early detection of pathogens, spoilage bacteria and microbial contamination to assure product safety, hygiene, compliance and sustainability. We bring laboratory grade molecular biological and microbiological analytics on-site. To achieve this goal, our development is guided by three principles:

simple

simple

With simple workflows and a focus on usability, we enable rapid molecular biological analyses without specialized staff and lab equipment.

fast

fast

Our cutting-edge microfluidic analysis system combined with an efficient sample preparation reduces time to result. This accelerates your decision making.

on-site

on-site

The compact nature of our system enables you to perform automated multiplex PCR directly on-site and keep the entire analysis under your control.

Our system

The Endress+Hauser BioSense analysis system enables rapid detection of microorganisms and viruses using microfluidic cartridges and a special processing device. All reagents required for DNA or RNA extraction, as well as multiplex PCR are pre-stored within the cartridges making them ready to use without further preparation.

The entire PCR analysis is performed without manual intervention, delivering actionable results fast and easily accessible.

Due to the modular nature of the microfluidic cartridges, bacterial, viral, plant, algae, fungi or animal nucleic acids can be detected by adapting the specific PCR reagents.

Our workflow

Optimized for on-site use, the Endress+Hauser BioSense analysis system comes with a simple and streamlined workflow.

1

Sampling

The workflow is designed to be compatible with a wide range of sample matrices such as liquids, solids or surface swabs.

Sampling
2

Preparation

With a simple homogenization step, solid samples are transformed to liquid samples for further processing. Using a proprietary concentration module, analyte levels can be increased without the need for centrifugation, filtration or flocculation.

Preparation
3

Analysis

The sample is transferred to the microfluidic cartridge, which is then inserted into the processing device. With the push of a button, it automatically performs DNA or RNA extraction followed by multiplex real-time PCR.

Analysis
4

Results

Integrated analysis routines automatically interpret the real-time PCR results and provide actionable information within seconds of completing the PCR run. Up to 20 different PCR targets can be detected and quantified in one microfluidic cartridge.
